Pergola with fireplace, attached to pool house with storage and bathroom
This backyard was divided by a steep slope, and had an underused clearing in the back of the property. We located the pool in the clearing, and wrapped the space in timber privacy fence, to create a cozy feeling.
We used a unique set of grass and stone steps to access the upper yard. The grass steps perform double duty as stadium-style seating for the lower yard; a place to relax while watching the kids play.
In between the lower yard and the pool clearing, we designed a small pool house with bathroom, and a large dining and lounging pergola, complete with a fireplace. This pergola ties the other backyard spaces together and functions as a halfway point between the house and pool area.
